A straight cut gear with the gear hobbing on the rim of the gear and parallel to the bore and rotating axis of the gear, spur gears are one of the most common and cost-effective types of precision gears. Spur gears mechanically transmit motion and power between parallel shafts, which rotate in opposite directions.
