New for 2018, the Penn Fathom II Level Wind reels make a number of improvements on the previous generation, which was well received as one of the most durable and castable star-drag conventional reels in its class. The key addition in the Fathom II is Penn's Fast Gear Access Sideplate. Penn recognized that conventional reels are difficult to service and anglers often find themselves without a reel while it is at a shop or back at the factory for maintenance. The Fast Gear Access Sideplate was implemented with the intention of making self-servicing a more realistic option for many anglers. The sideplate on all Fathom II models is easily removed by removing 4 screws. This allows anglers access to the entire gear box without worrying about losing springs or other small parts. The Fathom II was designed as a levelwind reel with a model for every angler with the durability and ease of maintenance Penn is known for! Other Key Features Include: Full metal body and sideplates Forged and machined aluminum spool Stainless steel main and pinion gear HT-100 Dura-Drag washers provide long lasting smooth drag, even under extreme drag settings 4+1 Shielded Stainless Steel Bearing System Line Capacity Rings 15 size comes with double paddle and single power handle assemblies for casting or trolling Reinforced Levelwind eliminates insert pop out Line Counter models available on 15, 20, and 30, in both right and left-hand.
