Silicone displays excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, and long-lasting material that returns to its shape after compression longer than other foam materials. The textured skin provides more grip. Common characteristics include wide operating temperature, compression set resistance, resistance to UV and ozone, extreme resilience to mechanical fatigue, and good chemical and water resistance. Applications include gaskets, heat shields, fire stops, cushions, and insulation for a wide variety of applications.
