Die ausfhrliche Darstellung und die rechnergesttzte Vorgehensweise dieses Lehrbuchs ermglichen einen einfachen Einstieg in die Finite-Elemente-Methode (FEM). Nach einer Einfhrung in die mathematischen Grundlagen werden das Verfahren von Ritz, elastostatische Probleme und Potentialprobleme behandelt. Ausfhrliche Beispiele erleichtern das Verstndnis. Die zweite Auflage ist um dynamische Probleme, neue Elementtypen und eine Vielzahl von Beispielen erweitert. Das Buch ist fr Studierende sowie fr Ingenieure in der Praxis und fr Physiker geeignet. Die beigefgte CD-ROM enthlt die Lernsoftware CALL_for_FEM. Diese bedient sich der Computeralgebra und beschreibt die Ableitungen des Buches in verallgemeinerter Form. In der zweiten Auflage sind die Programme verbessert sowie neue Programme zur Dynamik und zu Potentialproblemen hinzugefgt worden. Das Programm FEM_GEN dient zur interaktiven Erstellung (Preprozessing) von FE-Problemen. Videoclips erlutern die Handhabung der Programme.
