Doch trotz der immer wiederkehrenden Debatten in der deutschen Stadt- und Migrationssoziologie zur Bedeutung der ethnischen Kolonien fr den Integrationsprozess, fehlen in der Forschung weitgehend systematische und empirische Erkenntnisse ber das alltagsnahe Binnenleben. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll mit dieser Fallstudie eine Forschungslcke geschlossen werden. Im Fokus der Untersuchung stehen die wichtigsten Kristallisationspunkte, die trkischen Moscheen und die Cafs, eines Duisburger Stadtteils. Durch eine empirische Forschung wird dargelegt, wie sich die untersuchten Einrichtungen in der Auseinandersetzung mit den lokalen Bedingungen von ihrem Selbstverstndnis her ndern.
