Die Wirtschaftsinformatik beschftigt sich schon seit einigen Jahrzehnten mit einer IT-gesttzten strategischen Steuerung in Unternehmen. Mit Hilfe von Managementinformationssystemen erfolgt die Bereitstellung von steuerungsrelevanten Daten fr die jeweiligen Entscheidungstrger. In Politik und Verwaltung jedoch wurde eine solche IT-gesttzte strategisch-orientierte Steuerung bislang kaum behandelt. Frank Finkler berprft den Optimierungsbedarf der politischen Steuerung und entwirft ein elektronisches Regierungsinformationssystem zur Verbesserung der Fhrungsarbeit in Politik und Verwaltung. Er entwickelt eine Sollkonzeption, die der Politik und Verwaltung entscheidungsrelevante Informationen zur effektiven Steuerung von politischen Manahmen bereitstellt. Anhand von zwei im Echteinsatz befindlichen Lsungen berprft der Autor die Erkenntnisse auf ihre Praxistauglichkeit. Es handelt sich hier um das im Saarland etablierte Regierungsinformationssystem CONIFERE (Lnderebene) sowie das unter anderem beim Bundeskanzleramt eingesetzte System Intraplan B (Bundesebene).
