Thomas Petzold untersucht die Gewaltprsentation britischer, deutscher und russischer Fernsehnachrichten mit Hilfe eines einheitlichen Untersuchungsdesigns. Er zeigt, welche Darstellungs- und Deutungsschemata gewhlt werden, wie elaborierten Mechanismen der Medienkonventionen gefolgt wird und wo Interdependenzen mit der politischen Agenda bestehen. Der Autor legt damit die erste deutschsprachige Studie mit empirisch gesicherten, international vergleichbaren Ergebnissen zur Gewaltberichterstattung vor.
