Die Arbeit Susanne Weinert Portmanns stellt ein Konzept von Familienhilfe im Horizont eines kulturtheoretischen Konzepts vor. Sie scheint mir unter zwei Aspekten interessant und weiterfhrend fr die sozialpdagogische Diskussion: als Beitrag zu einer flligen neuen Diskussion zum Verhltnis von Kultur, Kulturtheorie und Sozialpdagogik und in der Konkretisierung zu neuen Profilierungen einer sozialpdagogischen Familienhilfe. Die Beziehung der Sozialpdagogik zur Kultur ist gegenwrtig nicht sehr ausgeprgt; Sozialpdagogik ist fokussiert auf soziale Probleme und belastete Interaktionen und K- munikationen. Gegen diese Engfhrung gibt es in der Sozialpdagogik Gegendiskurse, die sich in der Argumentation fr einen erweiterten, allgemeinen Kulturbegriff mit den Disk- sen der neueren Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften treffen. ein solcher Ansatz aber ist bisher nur in den traditionell der Kultur (und Bildung) nahe stehenden Bereichen der K- turarbeit, der Jugendkulturarbeit, der Jugendarbeit und des Kindergartens von Bedeutung. Susanne Weinert Portmann erweitert diesen Diskurs und bezieht sich in ihrer Arbeit auf die fr die Sozialpdagogik zentrale Aufgabe der Untersttzung von Familien in der Familienhilfe. Sie untersucht, was es fr das Verstndnis von Familie und das Konzept einer Familienhilfe bedeutet, wenn Familie im Kontext der Kulturtheorie als Symbol der Kultur verstanden wird. Fr dieses Vorhaben greift Susanne Weinert Portmann auf Cassirers Theorie der s- bolischen Formen zurck und entwickelt im Horizont der hier gegebenen allgemeinen - stimmungen ein Konzept von Familie als symbolischer Form, aus dem sie Konsequenzen fr eine kulturtheoretisch begrndete Familienarbeit ableitet. Ihr Konzept konkretisiert sie in vielfltigenBelegen aus der Praxis.
