(Boltanski/Chiapello 2001, S. 46) berall wo ein Unternehmen gegrndet wird, befehlen wenige und gehorchen viele. Diese wenigen jedoch haben sich sehr selten damit begngt, ohne hhere Rechtfertigungen zu he- schen, auch wenn sie allem Glauben an Ideen abgeschworen hatten, und die vielen waren selten fgsam genug, um nicht solche Rechtfertigungen notwendig zu machen. (Bendix 1960, S. 19) Aktuelle Gesellschaften befinden sich in stndiger Sorge um Leistung, glaubt man den immer wiederkehrenden ffentlichen Diskussionen. Vor dreiig Jahren manifestierte sich diese Sorge in der Diagnose eines allgemeinen Verfalls brgerlicher Leistungsideale. Es besteht kein Zweifel darber, so der Politikwissenschaftler Kurt Sontheimer im Jahr 1977, dass die gngige Infragestellung des Leistungsprinzips und des Leistungsstrebens, die sich heute bei konservativen Theologen ebenso findet wie bei linken Systemkritikern, ein A- druck allgemeiner Erschtterung tragender Werte unserer brgerlichen Zivilisation ist, die sich bei unserer Intelligenz vor allem in den 10-12 Jahren seit der Studentenrevolte rapide beschleunigt hat (Sontheimer 1977, S. 16). Von kritischer Seite wurde dagegen begrt, dass sich das Leistungsprinzip mittlerweile ganz offen als ideologisch offenbart habe.
