Die Frage, ob eine falsche normative Einstellung zur Arbeit zu Arbeitslosigkeit fhrt, wird zwar hufig diskutiert, wurde aber bisher nicht empirisch untersucht. Die Ergebnisse quantitativer Analysen weisen darauf hin, dass ein solcher Zusammenhang tatschlich besteht: Sowohl das Eintrittsrisiko in die Arbeitslosigkeit als auch Zahl und Dauer von Arbeitslosigkeits-Phasen werden durch die Einstellung erhht, dass Arbeit nicht oder nur unter bestimmten Umstnden eine Pflicht darstellt. Die zweite Frage der Studie betrifft das Wohngebiet als mgliche Quelle der individuellen Einstellungen zur Arbeit. Hier zeigt sich, dass nur geringe Kontexteffekte bestehen: Das Leben in einem Gebiet mit hoher Arbeitslosenquote frdert in geringem Mae die Einstellung, dass Arbeit keine unbedingte Verpflichtung ist.
