Das Buch beschreibt die numerische Berechnung von Nichtlinearitten in der Strukturmechanik, d.h. groe Drehungen, groe Dehnungen (geometrische Nichtlinearitten), nichtlineares Materialverhalten, besonders Plastizitt und zeitabhngiges Verhalten, und Kontakt. Darauf aufbauend werden auch Stabilittsprobleme und Traglastberechnungen behandelt. Dabei wird am Beispiel einfacher Systeme die Problematik erlutert, formelmig erfasst, in den Kontext der Finiten Elemente eingebunden und bis zum Dreidimensionalen verallgemeinert. Die einzelnen Schritte werden detailliert bis hin zu Zahlenbeispielen dargestellt. Das Buch richtet sich sowohl an Studierende als auch an Ingenieure in der Praxis, die entweder die Methode weiterentwickeln oder die Hintergrnde bestehender Programme verstehen wollen.
