Im Zentrum dieser Arbeit steht die Frage, ob bildungspolitische Institutionen das Ausma an sozialer Bildungsungleichheit in den deutschen Bundeslndern determinieren. In einem ersten Analyseschritt zeigt sich, dass sich die Bundeslnder sowohl im Ausma der sozialen Ungleichheit im Zugang zum Gymnasium als auch im Grad der sozialen Ungleichheit im Kompetenzerwerb unterscheiden. In einem zweiten Schritt kann tatschlich ein Effekt der Bildungspolitik in den Bundeslndern auf das Ausma der sozialen Ungleichheit nachgewiesen werden. Freilich unterscheiden sich die bildungspolitischen Effekte je nachdem, welche der beiden Arten sozialer Bildungsungleichheit betrachtet wird.
