Eine Vergtung nach sogenannten "Fallpauschalen" bietet sowohl fr die Kostentrger als auch fr die Kliniken viele Vorteile. Fallpauschalen enthalten fr die Kliniken aber auch den paradoxen Anreiz, ihre Leistungen "herunterzufahren", um Kosten zu sparen. Dies droht zu Nachteilen fr die Patienten zu fhren. In einem Modellversuch wurde deshalb geprft, wie sich die Einfhrung von Fallpauschalen in kardiologischen und orthopdischen Rehabilitationskliniken auf die Ergebnisqualitt auswirkt. Die Resultate zeigen, dass sich die Aufenthaltsdauer in der Tat etwas verkrzt hat. Die Effekte fr die Patienten haben sich dadurch allerdings nicht verschlechtert, sondern tendenziell sogar leicht verbessert. Eine begleitende Qualittssicherung vorausgesetzt, knnte die Einfhrung von Fallpauschalen in der Rehabilitation zu einer bedarfsgerechten Flexibilisierung der Aufenthaltsdauer beitragen, den Gestaltungsspielraum der Kliniken vergrern und die Planungssicherheit erhhen.
