Die in der Atmosphre eingebettete Ozonschicht lt sich - nach fotochemischen Gesichtspunkten - 11 11 grob schematisch in zwei Bereiche aufgliedern, in das hohe Ozon oberhalb etwa 30 km und den Bereich unterhalb dieser Grenze, der die berwiegende Ozonmenge enthlt. Im oberen Bereich 'ist das fr die Ozonbildung verantwortliche kurzwellige Sonnenlicht mit Wellen lngen unter 2424 AE noch so ausreichend vorhanden, da das fotochemische Gleichgewicht zwischen Ozonbildung und Ozonzerstrung sich in kurzer Zeit einstellt. Die Variationen dieses hohen Ozons sind im wesentlichen fotochemisch bedingt, nderungen der Sonneneinstrahlung bewirken direkt nderungen der Ozonkonzentration. In diesem Bereich liegen bislang nur wenige Raketenmessungen [ JOHNSON, PURCELL und TOUSEY 1951, 52] und Messungen vom Boden aus mit Hilfe des Gtzeffektes (Umkehr messungen) vor, wobei die Genauigkeit dieses indirekten Verfahrens beschrnkt bleiben mu [ DTSCH 1959, 62, 64a, 64b, 65a, DTSCH und MATEER 64] . Im unteren Bereich, der die berwiegende Ozonmenge enthlt, entfllt die Neubildung von Ozon weit gehend und nimmt auch die Ozonzerstrung mit abnehmender Hhe rasch ab, so da sich das in einem Luftkrper eingelagerte Ozon nur langsam ndert und damit fr viele Untersuchungen grorumiger Luft bewegungen eine geeignete Tracersubstanz darstellt.
