Am Beispiel des 1. Mai 2002 wird dieses komplexe Demonstrationsgeschehen in Berlin in seinen Traditionslinien, seinen Inszenierungen und seiner Sinngebung durch die beteiligten Akteure beschrieben und interpretiert. Gegenstand der Analysen ist auch die Behandlung der Proteste durch Polizei und Justiz sowie die Resonanz der Ereignisse in den Printmedien und Fernsehnachrichten.
