Junge Hochtechnologiefirmen sind in den letzten Jahren in das ffentliche Interesse gerckt. Einer der Grnde hierfr ist ihre oft rasante Entwicklung, die neben positiven unternehmensinternen Effekten auch gesamtwirtschaftliche Impulse fr Beschftigung und Innovation mit sich bringt. Der Absturz der sogenannten New Economy verdeutlichte aber die Probleme eines berzogenen Wachstums auf schmerzhafte Weise, und es stellt sich die Frage, welche Mechanismen fr eine rasche Entwicklung verantwortlich sind und wie sich inhaltliche Fortschritte in der Firmenentwicklung von reinem Wachstum unterscheiden lassen. Bjrn Klocke untersucht diese Frage am Beispiel der deutschen Nanotechnologie. Auf der Basis von Fallstudien und einer umfassenden quantitativen Erhebung erarbeitet er ein Modell, das die Entwicklung technologie- und marktbezogener Aktivitten in Unternehmen von der Exploration zur Exploitation aufzeigt. Es ermglicht die Messung der inhaltlichen Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit von Unternehmen und erlaubt eine gezielte Frderung dieser Geschwindigkeit.
