An Hand einer groangelegten empirischen Untersuchung weist Christoph Engelbrecht einen statistisch signifikanten positiven Zusammenhang zwischen dem Outsourcinggrad und dem Erfolg der Logistik (gemessen in einer kosten- und einer leistungsbezogenen Komponente) nach. Die Arbeit untermauert die Bedeutung der Flussorientierung eines Unternehmens und macht deutlich, dass eine zu starke Fixierung auf die Senkung der Logistikkosten kontraproduktiv ist.
