Efficacy ist ein seit den 50er Jahren in der Forschung verwendetes Konstrukt zur Messung von politischem Selbstvertrauen und der Wahrnehmung von politischer Responsivitt. Dennoch ist man sich nicht sicher, wie zuverlssig die Standard-Indikatoren die anvisierten Einstellungen messen. Angelika Vetter untersucht bislang verwendete Operationalisierungen von Internal und External Efficacy vergleichend auf ihre Megenauigkeit hin. Grundlage hierfr sind die beiden Kriterien Reliabilitt und Validitt. Sie werden im Rahmen der klassischen Mefehlertheorie erlutert, und es werden verschiedene Verfahren zu ihrer berprfung vorgestellt. Einen Schwerpunkt stellt die Anwendung und Interpretation von konfirmatorischen Faktorenanalysen mit LISREL dar. Schlielich werden alternative Indikatoren dargestellt, aus deren Kombination mit traditionellen Efficacy-Indikatoren ein alternatives Memodell entwickelt wird, das zu eindeutigeren Messungen fhrt.
