Im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung stehen: - die Transformation von Grenzen und Grenzgesellschaften innerhalb der Europischen Union - die vernderte Rolle der europischen Nationalstaaten - die Bedeutung staatlicher Grenzen fr die Methodologie und die Theoriebildung der Ethnologie, insbesondere fr die Konzeption der zentralen Kategorien der Kultur, der Gesellschaft, der Identitt und der Nation.
