Erkennbar wird ein komplexes Ineinandergreifen von sozialen Aufstiegs- und Ausschlussprozessen, das sich je nach sozialem Ort, an dem sich die Jugendlichen befinden, anders gestaltet. Die Analysen der erzhlten Lebensgeschichten machen deutlich, wie und durch welche Mechanismen soziale Positionen erlangt, zugeteilt und reproduziert werden. Damit rcken die Fragen ins Zentrum, wie sich "Klasse" und "nationale Herkunft" als Kategorien sozialer Ungleichheit im biographischen Verlauf verschrnken und in welchem Verhltnis individuelles Handeln und strukturell bestimmte Mglichkeiten zueinander stehen.
