Kerstin Meints untersucht den Erwerb von Passivkonstruktionen bei Kindern. Das englische Passiv wird dabei unter einem Prototypenansatz als idealisierte radiale Kategorie mit dem kanonischen Handlungsschema als ihrem Prototyp und anderen Ausprgungen des Passivs als periphereren Mitgliedern betrachtet. Die Autorin integriert und variiert systematisch alle bekannten Einflussfaktoren (Fokus, Belebtheit von Agens und Patiens, Reversibilitt und Transitivittsgehalt) im Experiment. Die Untersuchungen ermglichen zudem einen direkten Vergleich der Produktions- und Verstehensergebnisse. In Experimenten mit zwei- bis fnfjhrigen Kindern zeigt sich, dass prototypische Passiva tatschlich zuerst verstanden und produziert werden. Der Passiverwerb weitet sich dann auf weniger typische Passiva aus und schliet erst danach atypische Passiva ein. Typizitt scheint somit auch im Spracherwerb zu wirken und sollte daher von Theorien zum Spracherwerb wie auch von Theorien zur Sprachproduktion und -rezeption bercksichtigt werden.
