In dieser Studie wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwiefern der beobachtbare Prozess des wirtschaftsstrukturellen Wandel der Industrienation Deutschland hin zur postindustriellen Gesellschaft einen eigenen Erklrungsbeitrag zur sozialwissenschaftlichen Debatte um die Destabilisierung betrieblicher Beschftigung auf dem deutschen Arbeitsmarkt leistet. Anhand der Befunde der vorliegenden Studie wird deutlich, dass am deutschen Arbeitsmarkt Entwicklungen in beide Richtungen (Destabilisierung und Zunahme der Stabilitt) denkbar und beobachtbar sind. Von zunehmender Bedeutung ist aber die soziale Absicherung und gesellschaftliche Integration der Beschftigten in sogenannten Randbelegschaften.
