Leroy Gromann entwickelt auf der Grundlage videografierter Blackbox-Untersuchungen eine Typologie von Modellierungsstrategien. Insbesondere in der biologiedidaktischen Forschung wurde eine Vielzahl quantitativer Untersuchungen zum Modellverstehen durchgefhrt und damit das Kompetenzmodell der Modellkompetenz empirisch berprft. Fr das Modellieren als praktische Ttigkeit gibt es jedoch bislang kein ausdifferenziertes Kompetenzmodell diese Forschungslcke wird mit der vorliegenden qualitativen Studie geschlossen. Die Relevanz der Befunde fr den schulischen Biologieunterricht wird abschlieend dargestellt.
