Michael Elfering untersucht stationre und transiente Strmungsvorgnge in einem mastblich verkleinerten Modellfermenter bei verschiedenen Drehzahlen und Rhrwerkslagen mittels optischer Messverfahren (Particle Image Velocimetry, PIV) und dem vektorbasierten Auswerteverfahren (Proper Orthogonal Decomposition, POD) mit dem Ziel optimaler Durchmischung. Um aus den Labormessungen Rckschlsse auf reale Anlagen ziehen zu knnen, werden die scherverdnnende Viskositt des Fermentersubstrates und die Rhrwerksdrehzahlen mittels hnlichkeitsgesetzen auf den Modellmastab bertragen. Die Messungen verdeutlichen das enorme Potential geeigneter Rhrwerkslagen und -drehzahlen.
