Die Aufarbeitung sexuellen Missbrauchs von Kindern und Jugendlichen in der DDR ist einer der Schwerpunkte in der ersten Laufzeit der Unabhngigen Kommission zur Aufarbeitung sexuellen Kindesmissbrauchs. Als 2010 mit dem Runden Tisch Sexueller Kindesmissbrauch eine breite gesellschaftliche Debatte ber sexualisierte Gewalt an Mdchen und Jungen begann, sprachen erstmals auch Betroffene ber sexuellen Missbrauch in DDR-Heimen. Zuvor war ber sexuellen Kindesmissbrauch in der DDR sowohl in Heimen als auch im familiren Bereich so gut wie nichts bekannt. 2015 begrte der Deutsche Bundestag die Einrichtung einer Unabhngigen Kommission zur Aufarbeitung sexuellen Kindesmissbrauchs und benannte dabei die Aufarbeitung sexuellen Kindesmissbrauchs in der DDR explizit als deren Aufgabe.
