Detaillierte Analysen von Theaterreformschriften, Krisenszenarien der Theatergesetzgebung und Reformvorhaben der Regie-, Dramaturgie- und Probenpraxis zeichnen erstmals den institutionellen Wandel der Hoftheater mit einem Fokus auf Karlsruhe zwischen 1780 und 1880 nach.
