Am Beispiel eines berschaubaren Raumausschnitts werden die Beschreibungsmuster und Verbreitungswege geografischen Wissens herausgearbeitet. Die Ergebnisse werden unter Verwendung aktueller Theorien aus der Wissenssoziologie und Sozialgeografie interpretiert. Darauf aufbauend wird ein allgemeines Modell der mittelalterlichen Raumwahrnehmung und Orientierung entworfen.
