Die frhe Wildtierfotografie bediente damit ein populres Interesse an der als lokal, national oder kolonial geschtzten Fauna, lieferte wichtige Beitrge zur zoologischen Forschung und verstand sich hufig als Vorkmpfer des Naturschutzes. Ganz neu stellte sich damit aber auch die Frage, wie man Tiere richtig fotografiert: technisch, sthetisch, ethisch. Der Band beantwortet diese Fragen in historischer Perspektive und erschliet damit das Forschungsfeld der Wildtierfotografie.
