Kool-Stop MTB Mountain Pad The Kool-Stop MTB Mountain Pad is specially designed for mountain bike direct pull brakes, combining durability and top performance in all weather conditions. Its curved, longer shape provides greater rigidity, allowing for a perfect contour to the rim, which enhances braking power and makes it ideal for shallow rims or systems with tight brake clearance. Its dual-compound design merges a Black compound for dry conditions with a Salmon compound for wet, ensuring reliable stopping power regardless of the weather. Key Features: Reinforced Backbone: Hardened and plated steel backbone increases pad longevity and stability. Patented Angled Tip: Plows away mud and water from rims for improved performance in wet conditions. Water Grooves: Channels in the pad further aid in clearing water and debris. Knurl-Lock Washer System: Ensures the pad stays firmly in place. Rim-Friendly Compounds: Gentle on rims for a longer wheel life. Easy Tire Removal: Designed to simplify tire removal with tighter brake clearances. Specifications: Weight: Approx. 38 g/pair Length: 78 mm Pad Contact Width: 8 mm Made in the USA Installation Instructions: Clean the rim surface before installation. Place the new Kool-Stop pads into the brake caliper arms and finger-tighten the nuts. Squeeze the brake lever for proper alignment, then tighten the nuts (do not over-tighten). Break in the pads with several braking applications to condition the rim surface. Ensure "toe-in" alignment to prevent brake chatter. Re-check pad and rim alignment after breaking in and after every ride. Note: Do not ride until brakes are fully checked and functioning. Suitable for bicycle use only. All Kool-Stop pads meet C.P.S.C and D.I.N bicycle standards.
