This helmet is designed and intended exclusively for use by bicycling activities, including mountain biking and off-road cycling. The D4 carbon helmet utilizes carefully selected sizes and shapes of UD (uni-directional) carbon fiber sheets applied strategically. An unpainted or translucent finished helmet shows this layered structure of carbon fiber throughout the shell. This is a normal appearance and of intentional construction.
