The aerodynamics experts from Swiss-Side were also brought on board for the development of the current generation. With over 50 years of experience in Formula 1, Swiss Side has also been producing aerodynamically extremely sophisticated wheels with the latest production techniques for several years. In contrast to the classic approach, not only the rotational air resistance and the air resistance during driving were included in the development, but the criteria were expanded to build the best possible, modern aero wheels. Under this AERO+ approach, ride comfort, rolling resistance, grip, handling and the ratio of aero performance and weight were taken into account. New rim shape The newly designed rims not only impress with their lower air resistance and their more forgiving handling, the dimensions of the rims have also been significantly changed. With an inner width increased to 22 millimeters, they offer wide road bike tires better shape and allow lower air pressures to be driven without the tire becoming unstable. This increases both grip and driving comfort. In addition, the larger inner width helps you to reduce rolling resistance, because a tire with the same air pressure rolls more easily on a wider rim. In contrast to many competitors, DT-Swiss continues to rely on a hook rim. Compared to a hookless profile, the risk of a tire coming off is much lower and you have no restrictions when choosing a tire. The rims are optimized for a tire width of 28 millimeters. For the rear wheel, where aerodynamics play a less important role, DT-Swiss recommends fitting a 30 millimeter tire for maximum comfort. DICUT 240 hubs The latest generation of the 240 DICUT hubs with DT Swiss EXP technology rotates in the center of the wheels. In addition to a weight reduction compared to the previous version, the hubs have also become stiffer and offer aerodynamically optimized straight pull hub flanges and hub bodies. Thanks to the use of complex seals and bearing sizes adapted to the loads, the hubs do not need to adjust the bearing play.
