This unique handcrafted chess set includes our British Staunton with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut and Maple Deluxe Chess Board. The colors of golden rosewood and boxwood chess pieces go perfect with the walnut and maple chess board. Our British Staunton is based on an old British Chess Company chess set from many years ago. It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The golden rosewood chess pieces have rich golden-brown colors that go perfectly with the color of the walnut board. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. This is a medium size set with tall king - a great size for the casual games at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. Our Walnut and Maple Deluxe Chess Board is made for us by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, the manufacturer of the highest quality inlaid chess boards in the world. Made from premium grade walnut and maple veneer, the precision of the craftsmen inlay work is remarkable. The squares are 2" and the overall size of the board is 19.5" and .5" thick. A triple inlay delimiter accentuates the playing area from the extra wide frame that is the full width of a square. The board is sealed with a matte polyurethane finish that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood.
