This unique handcrafted chess set includes our British Staunton Chess Set with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board. The colors of golden rosewood and boxwood chess pieces go perfect with the walnut and maple chess board. Our British Staunton is based on an old British Chess Company chess set from many years ago. It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The golden rosewood chess pieces have rich golden-brown colors that go perfectly with the color of the walnut board. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is tall and has a base diameter of 1.625" - an ideal size for competitive games as well as displaying at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 2.125" with an overall footprint of 21.5".
