This chess set package includes our British Staunton Chess Set with ebonized and natural boxwood pieces matched with Italfama's Leatherette Chess Board and Storage Tray. Our British Staunton is based on an old British Chess Company chess set from many years ago. It's purely traditional with all the features a player and collector looks for in a high quality Staunton chess set. The ebonized boxwood is jet black and polished to an obsidian black shine while the cream colored natural boxwood is the perfect wood for the white chess pieces. The pieces are individually hand polished and lacquered to a beautiful luster. The king is tall and has a base diameter of 1.5" - the ideal size for a game at home. The pieces have thick green baize pads so they slide smoothly across the chess board and are heavily weighted for stability. The British Staunton has been favorite with chess players for years and continues to be a popular choice. The black and brown faux leather of Italfama's Leatherette Chess Board and Storage Tray creates a beautiful chess set matched with these special pieces. Under the board are felt covered compartments for holding each piece when you want to put them away. On the flipside of the chess board is a backgammon board and plastic backgammon checkers are included. The chess board and storage tray have decorative leather-stamped designs that add to the look of a real leather covering.
