This chess set package includes our Reykjavik Series with ebonized and boxwood pieces matched with our Black and Ash Burl High Gloss Chess Board. This is the same chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. These handsome pieces have traditional Staunton features and are a favorite for chess players wanting a set that will stand up to the rigor of frequent use. These are ebonized and natural boxwood pieces with a traditional polished lacquer finish and are heavily weighted for superior balance and stability on the chess board. The king is tall and has a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Thick green billiard cloth pads let the pieces slide smoothly across the chess board and a quite soft feel when sitting down. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of authenticity so you will always know what the chess set is and where it came from.Our Black and Ash Burl High Gloss Deluxe Chess Board goes perfect with ebonized and boxwood chess pieces. Imported from Spain, this is an inlaid chess board made for us by Rechapados Ferrer. The black and golden color of the natural ash burl are enhanced by the high gloss, glass-like finish creating an elegant backdrop for the ebony and boxwood chess pieces. A pinstripe delimiter around the squares and an extra-wide frame adds an elegant look to the board. The squares are 2" with the chess board measuring 19.5" x 19.5".
