Unencumbered by fine detail, these chess pieces will stand up to the rigor of daily play for a lifetime. This is a regulation size set with a tall king with a base diameter of 1.375", an excellent size for tournament play or the game at home. Pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion and allow pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. The German Knight Staunton ranks as the most popular chess set ever made is often used in tournaments, matches, television shows, movies and featured on chess book covers.This beautiful mahogany and maple chess board from Sunrise Chess and Games in Poland and is an excellent choice for contrasting with the ebonized and boxwood pieces. This is a handcrafted inlaid chess board made from premium quality mahogany and maple veneer. The craftsmanship of the inlay work is superb. The squares are 2" and the overall size of the board is 19" and .5" thick. The board is finished in a polyurethane matte finish to seal and protect the wood while enhancing the natural colors.
