The Reykjavik draws inspiration from the chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The padauk and boxwood pieces have a gloss lacquer that both protects and enhances the beauty of the wood. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.625", the perfect size for tournament chess games. Heavily weighted for exceptional stability, the pieces have thick green baize pads for a soft cushion on the chess board.
