This chess set includes our Queen's Gambit Staunton with ebonized and natural boxwood pieces matched with our Deluxe Two-Drawer Walnut Chess Case. If you've seen the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit, you saw Beth playing a game of chess with these pieces. This model is nearly identical to our German Knight with a few minor tweaks no one would even notice. But we wanted to offer exact same set so we made the changes and named it after the oldest chess openings in the game, The Queen's Gambit. Like our German Knight, this set is simple yet attractive and is the ideal set for your everyday chess game. Unencumbered by fine detail, these chess pieces will stand up to the rigor of daily play for a lifetime. This king is tall with a base diameter of 1.375", an ideal size for tournament play or the casual game at home. Pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion and allow pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board.Our Deluxe Two-Drawer Walnut Chess Case is the ideal choice for combining a chess board with a way of storing chess pieces when you're not playing a game. This exterior of the case is made from solid wood with an elegant molded edge design that incorporates a graceful curve and a three row beaded section at the top. The chess board is made from high quality walnut and maple veneer and has a decorative black inlaid border to delineate the playing area. The drawers completely pull out to make it easy to take pieces out or put them in. A recessed magnet on each of the drawer secures the drawer when closed. The compartments will hold a chess set with up to a 4.125" tall king and with base of 1.625".
