This chess set includes our Reykjavik Series with rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Santos Rosewood and Maple Deluxe Chess Board. The Reykjavik draws inspiration from the chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. This is a thirty-four-piece set that includes two extra queens for pawn promotion. The pieces are handcrafted from rosewood and boxwood and polished to a lustrous shine. This is a tournament size set with a 3.75"-inch-tall king. The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have thick green baize pads on the bottom for a soft cushion and that allow the pieces to slide smoothly across the chess board. The simplistic but elegant elements of this famous design have made it a popular chess set for decades.Our Mahogany and Maple Molded Edge Chess Board from Rechapados Ferrer combines classic design with elegant features to create an eye-catching battlefield for your chess game.
