16-oz. Sharpening Stone Oil To make your sharpening job easier, try Norton Sharpening Stone Oil. Specially formulated for all types of metal. Norton sharpening stone oil is a natural, highly refined light mineral oil. It is pharmacopoeia grade and therefore safe for use on kitchen tools. Mineral oil lubrication is recommended for all Norton oil stones. Oil acts as an effective lubricant during the sharpening process to float away metal and abrasive dust that would otherwise clog up the stone and ultimately render it useless. Use this sharpening oil to help reduce particle build-up on the stone surface. This pharmacopoeia grade mineral oil meets FDA requirements for use near food and is designed specifically for sharpening stone use. It is the lubricant of choice for professional chefs and meat cutters. The oil is in a child proof 1 pint bottle and also suitable for use on wood cutting boards and utensils. Norton's Oil Stones are manufactured using a proprietary process that impregnates them with a petroleum based product that allows the lubrication used during the sharpening process to stay on the stone's surface. As a result, the metal from the object being sharpened and small pieces of abrasive that break off the stone become suspended in the lubricant. This prevents these materials from imbedding into the sharpening stone's surface, keeping it free cutting and making it easy to keep its surface clean. Norton sharpening stones are made of the highest quality materials and are unequaled for long sharpening life, maintenance of shape and smooth cut.
