Henckels Statement Fine Edge Cutlery: high-quality stainless steel with contour polypropylene handles secured to the full-tang blades with three rivets. Precision stamped blades are wear resistant and have a satin finish and fine edge. Hygienic and break-proof. Dishwasher safe, but hand washing recommended. This set includes one 8-inch bread knife, one 8-inch chef knife, one 7-inch hollow-edge Santoku knife, one 3-inch paring knife, six 4.5-inch steak knives, one sharpening steel and a hardwood block (the 12th piece) to safely store your knives. All the knives in this set have a metal end cap except for the steak knives. A bread knife is used for cutting bread or other foods with tough skin or crust and soft interior. A chef knife is for chopping, dicing and slicing. A Santoku is an all-purpose Asian-style knife for slicing and chopping. The hollow grooves in the blade of this hollow-edge Santoku facilitate better release. Use a paring knife for cleaning, paring, peeling and slicing fruits and vegetables. A steak knife is a table knife handy for effortless cutting of meats. For greatest cutting power, use the sharpening steel every other time the knife is used.
