It was designed by the Messerschmitt company and was the first rocket-powered aircraft to be deployed in combat. The Komet was a highly advanced aircraft for its time and was capable of reaching speeds of over 600 mph.The aircraft piloted by Captain Eric Winkle Brown of VF 241 was one of the most famous and successful examples of the Me 163B. It was used extensively during the war primarily for intercepting Allied bombers and was known for its high speed and maneuverability.Despite its capabilities the Me 163B had a number of drawbacks including its limited range and the fact that it was difficult to fly and land safely.
