The aircraft was originally designed as a commercial airliner and entered service in the 1930s. However with the onset of the war the Dragon Rapide was quickly pressed into military service.One of the most famous Dragon Rapides was X7454 nicknamed "Wee Wullie" which was operated by the USAAF during the war. "Wee Wullie" saw service in a number of critical missions including transport and communications reconnaissance and even covert operations behind enemy lines.The aircraft was also used in the aftermath of the D-Day landings where it was used to transport troops and supplies to and from the front lines.The DH89 Dragon Rapide X7454 "Wee Wullie" is a classic aircraft that played an important role in the air war over Europe during World War II.
