While the early production models played pivotal roles in battles such as the Battle of Kursk the late production versions of the Hummel further solidified their reputation as powerful and versatile artillery units.In the later stages of World War II as the Eastern Front witnessed intense fighting the Hummel Late Production became a crucial asset for the German army. These self-propelled howitzers were often used in defensive actions as the German forces faced the relentless advances of the Soviet Red Army. Their potent 15 cm sFH 18/1 howitzers were capable of delivering devastating barrages against enemy positions.One of the most notable engagements involving the Hummel Late Production was the Battle of Berlin in 1945. As the Soviet forces closed in on the German capital the Hummel units were deployed in a desperate attempt to defend the city.
