These self-propelled howitzers were often used in defensive actions as the German forces faced the relentless advances of the Soviet Red Army. Their potent 15 cm sFH 18/1 howitzers were capable of delivering devastating barrages against enemy positions.One of the most notable engagements involving the Hummel Late Production was the Battle of Berlin in 1945. As the Soviet forces closed in on the German capital the Hummel units were deployed in a desperate attempt to defend the city.
