Brand new diecast airplane model of NASA "Discovery" Space Shuttle White "United States" with Runway Section die cast model by Runway24.Brand new box.Detailed exterior.Comes in a blister pack.This model does not have any openings.Manufacturers original unopened packaging.Made of diecast metal with some plastic parts.Includes 7.25 inch long runway strip for display.Dimensions approximately L-4.125 Wingspan-2.75 inches.Comes with a flexible rubber runway section that can be used together with other Runway24 sets to create your own airport.HISTORY ASPECTS:The Space Shuttle Discovery stands as one of NASAs most iconic and historic spacecraft marking a significant chapter in the exploration of space. Launched on its maiden voyage on August 30 1984 Discovery became the third operational orbiter of the Space Shuttle program. Over its illustrious career Discovery completed numerous missions including deploying satellites conducting scientific experiments and playing a crucial role in the assembly of the International Space Station (ISS).One of Discoverys most notable achievements was its role in the Return to Flight mission (STS-26) in 1988 following the Challenger disaster. This mission demonstrated NASAs commitment to safety and marked the shuttles return to operational status. Discovery also carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit during mission STS-31 in 1990 significantly advancing our understanding of the universe.In total Discovery completed 39 missions spending a cumulative total of one full year in space and traveling over 148 million miles. After its retirement in 2011 Discovery found its permanent home at the Smithsonians National Air and Space Museum where it continues to inspire visitors with its rich history and contributions to space exploration.Meticul.
