It saw extensive service in various conflicts including the early years of the war and later campaigns across Europe. One of the significant conflicts in which the Wellington Mk.IA/C participated was the Battle of Britain in 1940. Although primarily designed as a medium bomber the Wellington was adapted for use as a night bomber and performed vital roles in bombing raids over enemy targets including industrial centers and military installations.Following its role in the Battle of Britain the Wellington continued to serve throughout the war participating in strategic bombing campaigns against Axis targets in Europe.
