Brand new plastic model kit of Messerschmitt Bf109E-3/E-4 Fighter Aircraft with 3 Scheme Options (Level 2) 1/48 plastic model kit by Airfix.Brand new box.Vintage style packaging.Officially licensed product.Contains 107 detailed parts.Does NOT include display stand.Paint and cement required (not included).Manufacturers original unopened packaging.Parts molded in Light Gray unless otherwise indicated.Dimensions approximately L-7.25 W-8 inches assembled.Includes decals to design the plane in 3 different schemes.HISTORY ASPECTS:The Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3/E-4 commonly known as the "Emil" was a variant of the legendary Bf 109 series one of the most iconic German fighters of World War II. The Bf 109E was a significant upgrade from earlier versions featuring a more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and improved armament making it one of the most feared aircraft in the skies during the early years of the conflict. The Bf 109E-3 first saw action during the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930s where it demonstrated its superiority over most contemporary fighters. However it was during World War II that the "Emil" cemented its reputation.The Bf 109E-3/E-4 played a pivotal role during the Battle of France in 1940 where it provided air superiority for the Luftwaffe escorting bombers and engaging Allied fighters. The "Emil" also took center stage in the Battle of Britain facing off against the Royal Air Forces Spitfires and Hurricanes in a contest for control of the skies. While the Bf 109E was fast and maneuverable it faced challenges due to its relatively short range which limited its ability to operate effectively over British territory. Despite these limitations it remained a formidable adversary and contributed significantly to the Luftwaffe's early successes.The Bf 109E-3/E.
