Model Demonstration Water SoftenerAn 8" resin column (10.25" total height) that softens up to 70 gallons of medium hard water (7 gpg hardness) before requiring regeneration or fresh resin. Model softener is furnished in the Model AT-38 and AT-Q-38 outfits.Softeners in the Model Series are designed to produce a large volume of high quality softened water. Each softener has a faucet adapter that easily connects to any faucet. As water passes through the chamber, the resin column causes scale-forming calcium and magnesium ions to be exchanged for non-scale-forming sodium ions. The Model will soften about 70 gallons of medium hard water, the Model S-6 about 100 gallons, and the Model S-XL about 130 gallons, before the resin requires replacement or regeneration. Inexpensive resin refill packages are available, or the original resin can be regenerated by chemical treatment.
