As with all of templates, use a 1/2" cutter and a 5/8" outside diameter router template guide on your router for this template. See Router Bit and Router Template Guide If you will be using the Universal Router Bit with the 5/8" top mounted bearing with this template you should also purchase a Top Bearing Kit. Using a double-bearing setup with this template will increase the contact area on the template and reduce the chance for template flex. No need to remove the door stop when using this template. The template is designed to place the back edge of the strike plate as close as 3/16" from the door stop or it can be adjusted to a wider setting using the built-in stops on the underside of the template.
