Insert the locator into the 1" hole.Place the template over the center locator using the proper pocket for the lock hard ware that you are installing. This will locate the template centered over the 1" hole.Adjust the red plastic stops on the underside of the template to just contact the edge of the door jamb or door edge when the template is positioned by the locator. You may need to remove the template several times and adjust the stops to get this setting. This setting will be used until you change the door thickness.Check your alignment, you should be able to have the template positioned on the face of the jamb or door edge using the stops to align the template and then be able to Insert and remove the center locator with ease, this will guarantee the alignment and position for mortising with your router.Nail the template down to the jamb face or door edge using the nail assemblies included on the template. Remove the locator, check your router for the proper depth of cut and make your cut.The red plastic center locators and the red plastic stops on the underside of the template are used in the same way. The strike template is used on the door jamb and the latch template is used on the edge of the door. Follow the instructions below using a 1/2" hinge mortising bit and a 5/8" OD template guide on your router to create the proper mortises for your jamb and door.
